What to Expect:
Several large-scale power outages in the building lasting up to 24 hours each, including outages to the life safety systems in the building.

Why:
To facilitate major electrical upgrade/modernization work within the Library.

Restroom Closure to Colvard 1011 & 1013.

When:

What to Expect:
– Restrooms will be closed Monday, May 11 through Monday, May 18.
– Floor crew equipment and technicians will be present.
– Restrooms will be blocked off including signage.

Why:
Restoration of restroom floors.

What’s Going On:
Fire systems is replacing the fire pump controller in Lynch Hall.

When:
Tuesday, May 12, 2026 7:00 AM to Tuesday, May 12, 2026 8:00 AM

What to Expect:
– Power will be limited to emergency egress lighting and life safety systems.
– This will be a two part power outage, once in the morning and once when the fire pump controller work is finished.
– We will update this notification when the second outage is ready to occur.

Why:
The electric shop has to remove the feed from the utility transformer serving the fire pump controller.

What’s Going On:
Parking spaces will be blocked off during construction of the Loy Witherspoon Center for Meditation and Reflection.

When:
Friday, May 8, 2026 8:00 AM to Friday, January 29, 2027 5:00 PM

What to Expect:
6 parking spaces will be permanently closed and captured for the construction of the new Loy Witherspoon Center, and section of spaces adjacent to the construction site entrance will be temporarily closed for a portion of the construction project.

Why:
For the new construction of the Loy Witherspoon Center for Meditation and Reflection.

The power to Lot 6, East Deck and areas around Van Landingham Glen will be out.

When:
Thursday, May 14, 2026 6:00 AM to Thursday, May 14, 2026

What to Expect:
– Lights in East Deck and Lot 6 will be out.
– Generator will running the traffic lights by Cato Hall.
– Power to East Deck and surrounding lots will be out.
– Equipment at the site of transformer replacement.
– Sidewalk into Lot 6 from Martin Hall might be blocked by equipment at times.

Why:
To replace a transformer near Lot 6.

What to Expect:
– Construction equipment.
– Barricades closing part of the lot.
– Access to the lot will still be available on both sides.
– The area closed will get smaller as the modular units are installed.

Why:
To stage the modular classrooms for installation.

Contractor will perform TREE WORK at sidewalk area adjacent to West Deck from 7 AM to 4 PM each day.

When:
Monday, May 11, 2026 7:00 AM to Tuesday, May 12, 2026 4:00 PM

What to Expect:
– North bound lane of Cameron Boulevard will be closed off to vehicular and pedestrian traffic during these days from University Road to northern edge of West Deck.
– Southbound lane will remain open.
– All vehicles will need to travel east bound on University Road from intersection.
– Interior West Deck vehicular operations will not be impacted during this project.
