What’s Going On:
There will be a power interruption to RUP 1 and the Student Activity Center.

Saturday, June 20, 2026 7:00 AM to Saturday, June 20, 2026 9:00 AM

What to Expect:
– Electrical power will be briefly interrupted.
– The emergency generators serving these two buildings will activate and provide back-up power to RUP 1 and to the Student Activity Center.
Affected Buildings:
* Barnhardt Student Activity Center
* Regional Utility Plant 1

Why:
This will improve the safety and reliability of medium voltage feeds to RUP 1 and the Student Activity Center.

What to Expect:
– Soft wash & pressure washing equipment will be in use.
– May be a slight bleach smell.
– Please avoid these working areas during this time.
Affected Buildings:
* Atkins
* Cone University Center
* Barnhardt Student Activity Center
* South Library Lane

Why:
To clean and maintain precast, walls, and pavers.

What to Expect:
– Crane will be on site.
– Material will be loaded to the roof.
– Access to the loading dock will be blocked while the crane is in place.

Why:
– Forecasted weather on 6/15 pushed the crane to 6/19.
– To install a crane for the Mebane Roof project.

What’s Going On:
Partial road closure on Library Lane between Honeywell Innovation Hub and Cameron Hall.

When:
Wednesday, June 17, 2026 8:00 PM to Wednesday, June 17, 2026 11:59 PM

What to Expect:
– Test holes confirming the location and depth of fiber optic duct banks will be dug along Library Lane.
– The holes will be repaired immediately thereafter.
– Expect construction crews in the roadway and hydro excavation trucks.
– One lane will remain open at all times and two way traffic will be maintained via flaggers.

* Honeywell Innovation Hub
* Cameron Hall
* Library Lane

Why:
To enable the installation of a temporary/shoring wall for the loading dock of the new Honeywell Innovation Hub (Burson Renovation and Expansion).

Rotating closures of parking areas in Union Deck for pressure washing.

When:

What to Expect:
June 19-20: Union Deck Upper closed; all parking in Union Deck lower. Enter via north entrance on Union Deck Lane.

June 21-22: Union Deck Lower closed; all parking in Union Deck upper. Enter via south entrance on Student Union Lane.

Why:
Periodic cleaning to maintain appearance and condition of parking facility.

Parking lot repairs and maintenance at Hawthorn’s parking lot – Lot 13.

When:

What to Expect:
– Lot 13 will be closed starting Monday, June 15th.
– Area will be blocked off.
– The work should be finished by the end of day on Wednesday, June 17th (weather permitting).

The sidewalk between the Popp Martin Student Union and UREC will be closed for construction (including the grassy area and 2 ADA parking spaces adjacent to this area).

When:

What to Expect:
– The area will be blocked off with a construction fence and impassable.
– Signage will be posted inside and outside to help guide patrons.

Why:
To improve ADA access and widen this sidewalk.

What to Expect:
– Area will be blocked off with cones and barricades.
– Large equipment on site.
– They are scheduled to be re-opened by July 18th, 2026

Why:
To resurface these parking areas and to improve sidewalks in the parking areas to meet current ADA standards.
