FRETWELL FIRE ALARM UPGRADE – Fretwell
What’s Going On:
New notification devices will be added to the existing Fire Alarm throughout Fretwell. The current Fire Alarm will remain active during this project.
When:
Monday, January 20, 2025 7:00 AM to Wednesday, April 30, 2025 5:00 PM
What to Expect:
– Construction noise/hammering related to contractors anchoring conduit to the concrete decking above ceiling for the new devices on all floors
– Majority of the work will take place in the corridors/hallways
Why:
To make necessary upgrades to the existing Fire Alarm System.

***POSTPONED*** DUKE LOADING DOCK CLOSED – Duke Centennial Hall
What’s Going On:
Due to cold temperatures, the work needing to be done to Duke has been postponed. A reschedule date has not been set yet.
When:
Thursday, January 23, 2025 7:00 AM to Thursday, January 23, 2025 5:00 PM
What to Expect:
– 85ft boom lift will be on site.
– There will be no access to the Duke loading dock area.
– Barricades will be set up at the loading dock driveway.
Why:
To perform maintenance to the building.

KLEIN HALL WINDOW REPAIR – Klein Hall
What’s Going On:
Window repairs will be happening at Klein Hall.
When:
Thursday, January 23, 2025 8:00 AM to Thursday, January 23, 2025 3:30 PM
What to Expect:
– Lift on the sidewalk and barricaded to prevent pedestrians from walking in the work area.
– Staff in yellow safety vests will be directing pedestrian traffic.
– Staff will be inside to assist with the removal of the old glass and installation of the new glass.
Why:
Karsey Glass Company will be out to replace the broken glass.

CONSTRUCTION PROJECT AT FOUNDATION BUILDING – UNC Charlotte Foundation
What’s Going On:
INSTALLATION OF SIDEWALK AND RETAINING WALLS
When:
Monday, January 6, 2025 8:00 AM to Friday, January 24, 2025 4:00 PM
What to Expect:
CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY WILL CAUSE DISRUPTIONS AND VARIATIONS IN TYPICAL TRAFFIC PATTERNS ON ACCESS DRIVE OFF UNIVERSITY CITY BOULEVARD DURING BUSINESS HOURS.
Why:
THERE WILL BE INTERRUPTIONS AND NOISE BY CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT DURING EXCAVATION AND MATERIAL DELIVERIES.

REESE BUILDING DISRUPTIONS FOR REPAIR WORK
What’s Going On:
Disruptions to various offices and conference rooms on all levels of the west side of the building (facing Cone), as well as areas of the adjacent surface lot and exterior stairs at the southwest corner of the building.
When:
Tuesday, October 1, 2024 8:00 AM to Friday, February 28, 2025 5:00 PM
What to Expect:
– Construction noise from power tools, lifts, etc.
– Fencing and signage under work areas and around staging areas.
– Scaffolding set up at the west side of the building, including overhead protection at the entrances to the basement and 1st floors.
– Facade repair work will also occur above the exterior stairs at the southwest corner of the building.

* Lot 30
Why:
To facilitate replacement of the ribbon windows, precast elements, and curtain wall systems on the west elevation of the building.
