Move In Cardboard and Styrofoam Recycling CenterWelcome 49ers! We are so excited to have you join Niner Nation! Beginning August 12, recycling corrals to recycle cardboard and styrofoam will be set up outside of each residence hall. An easy way to reduce your waste! Take a look at the Campus Wide Recycling Corral Map to see where your residence hall corral is located. Please bring your flattened cardboard and packing styrofoam and leave it in the corrals fo recycling.

MOVE OUT

Niners! It’s that time of year! Finals are done, summer is almost here, and you’re ready to head home. But, before you do, you’ve got to move out of your room. And, the Office of Waste Reduction and Recycling is here to make sure you move out right! Below are some tips and tricks to turn all your move out Garbage into 49er GOLD!

Move Out Donation Bins

Each residence hall has small move out bins located in a central location. You can donate any of the items listed below. These items get donated to Salvation Army and the Jamil Niner Student Pantry right here on campus. Make a difference in someone else’s life by donating your unwanted goods instead of throwing them away. 

Items wanted:

  • Clothing
  • Shoes
  • Accessories (purses, bags, belts)
  • Books
  • Linens
  • Dishes & housewares
  • Storage crates
  • Other household items
  • Non-perishable food items (unopened can goods, ramen noodles)
  • Unopened, unused toiletries

Refurnish 49ers

Have large items or furniture you no longer want? A team of Levine Scholars, called Refurnish 49ers, are here to help. They will be set up outside Scott Hall and in the Lynch Quad during finals week to collect the items below. All large items will be donated to Habitat for Humanity Restore.

Items wanted:

  • Bookshelves
  • Chairs / tables
  • Storage units
  • Futons
  • Lamps
  • Appliances (mini-fridges, microwaves, coffee makers)
