Earth Week Volunteer Opportunities

Join the Office of Sustainability, along with other campus entities, to celebrate Earth Week. Traditionally, the University has celebrated the entire month of April as Earth Month, but, like many things, this year called for a change. With current restrictions for in-person events and in an effort to reduce the concentration end-of-semester stress and other events in April, it made more sense to transition to an Earth Week in March. Earth Week will occur on March 27-31, and will include outdoor activities and a virtual summit.

Events include:

  • March 27 – Student Sustainability Summit: Sponsored by the Student Government Association, this virtual event includes keynote remarks from campus leaders and break out sessions. Registration is required.
  • March 29 – Campus Tree Planting: In coordination with the Grounds unit, volunteers will plant trees and shrubs to increase our campus landscape. Registration is required.
  • March 30 – Campus Cleanup: The Office of Waste Reduction and Recycling will host a campus cleanup event to help beautify our campus. Registration is encouraged to assist with physical distancing.
  • March 31 – Student Garden Day: Volunteers will help repair, rejuvenate and plant the campus garden areas to encourage pollinators on campus and grow food for consumption. Registration is required.

In the event of unsatisfactory weather, those who registered will be contacted with more information. The proposed dates to reschedule are April 1-2.

Additional information can be found online. Participants will be encouraged to maintain physical distance and wear masks during any in-person event.
