The Golden Goose

UNC Charlotte has a unique way to manage the geese population on campus by utilizing, Flyaway Geese. This innovative service allows us to manage geese with a sustainable, logical, and conservative plan. Managing the population here on campus through this vendor allows us to do three things:
- Chase geese away using dogs provided by and managed by Flyaway Geese
- Remove geese nests
- Addle eggs within a nest
PETA, Humane Society of the United States, and National Park Service recommend such practices and provides valuable information and guidance. The geese population has gone from migratory birds to resident birds in recent years, but federal guidelines remain unchanged. Population on Campus was as large as 350 geese. Generally, Spring is a busy time as geese are making nests/laying eggs.
