Grounded in excellence, University receives PGMS award

The Professional Grounds Management Society (PGMS) recognized the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with an Honor Award in its 2020 Green Star Awards competition. The award was given in the University and College Grounds (large 500+ acres) category for exceptional grounds maintenance.

This is the University’s third consecutive PGMS award and serves as a testament to the ongoing work and dedication of the FM Grounds team led by grounds superintendent, Joey Cochran.

The Green Star Awards program brings national recognition to grounds maintained with a high degree of excellence, complimenting other national landscape award programs that recognize outstanding landscape design and construction. Overall, PGMS presented three Grand Awards, its highest honor, as well as 14 Honor Awards and three Merit Awards in eight categories of competition.

Winners were honored during the society’s virtual awards celebration on October 22.
