RUP 5 Data Center Expansion

Project Description:
The project is for the construction of the RUP 5 Data Center Expansion. The Regional Utility Plant
(RUP) 5, constructed in 2020 with 14,800 Gross Square Feet, includes a 3,198 sf campus data center.
This project will upgrade the data center and electrical infrastructure to support the increased computing
needs of the university as the research enterprise continues to grow.
The design will be consistent with the Guiding Principles of the Campus Master Plan. The University’s
Design and Construction Manual and Campus Master Plan can be viewed at: http://facilities.uncc.edu/
Some of the important design elements will be:
Protection of existing critical facilities throughout construction.
Simplicity of design with an emphasis on economical construction and maintainability;
Effective and efficient communication systems, including integration through expansion with the existing systems;
Safety of visitors, students, and staff during construction;
