What is Construction and Demolition Recycling?

Construction and Demolition (C&D) recycling is diverting usable materials from the landfill that are generated during construction and demolition projects. UNC Charlotte has a goal of diverting 50% of C&D materials from the landfill. Building Environmental Services and Recycling works closely with construction managers to track C&D weights from all major projects on campus.

The following materials can be reused or recycled:

Carpet
Ceiling Tile
Concrete
Drywall/Sheetrock
Insulation
Metal
PVC Pipes
Shingles
Wood
