Arborists Gather at UNC Charlotte for 2025 Tree Climbing Challenge
The Charlotte Arborist Association recently hosted its annual Tree Climbing Competition (TCC) at UNC Charlotte.
The event brought together 50 climbers from across the arboriculture community, continuing a tradition that began as one of North America’s first unsanctioned tree climbing competitions. Known for pioneering techniques such as the single-rope system (SRS), the Charlotte TCC remains a proving ground for innovation, mentorship and professional growth.
Highlights included the association’s signature Education Day, offering hands-on training for students and professionals, and the Work Climb event, where safety technicians ensured competitor well-being.
Organizers reported the event was safe, challenging and rewarding, reinforcing Charlotte’s role as a leader in advancing arboriculture practices.
