Discontinuation of Certain Motor Fleet Vehicles on Campus

Categories: General News

In an ongoing effort to streamline operations, reduce costs and promote sustainability, fleet management is discontinuing the use of certain motor fleet vehicles on campus, effective Monday, June 30.

Motor fleet vehicles including cars, minivans and midsize SUVs, which have been used for various campus operations, will no longer be available for departmental use. This change excludes 15-passenger vans.

“This transition will require some adjustments,” said Marc Casanova, assistant director of fleet management, warehouse and logistics. “The fleet management team is committed to helping campus departments and employees navigate these changes and find the best alternatives to meet their transportation needs.”

What alternatives are available?

  • Employees and campus departments can take advantage of car rental services provided by Enterprise/National Car Rental, which is under a statewide contract in 49er Mart.

How will this impact employees?

  • If your department currently relies on motor fleet vehicles, you will need to transition to alternative transportation solutions. Reach out to fleet services at fm-fleet-group@charlotte.edu for assistance in planning the transition.
  • Employees who use motor fleet vehicles for business-related travel will need to utilize another method of transportation, such as rentals provided by Enterprise/National Car Rental.

Key dates and deadlines

  • The discontinuation of certain motor fleet vehicles will take effect Monday, June 30.
  • The final day for vehicle requests is Sunday, June 1. This is the last day departments can request motor fleet vehicles for future use.
